Creativity and Inspiration are something one does need to seek out. If I can make that expedition a little shorter, I’ll be a happy photographer. If you’ve read the Creative Habit by Twyla Tharp, these 10 abstract textures may become a part of your scratching practices.
These specific textures were shot a long time ago. I’m talking about 7 or 8 years go with my Nikon Coolpix 5700 camera. Another image, not shown here, but on istockphoto has been downloaded over 80 times.
Recently I had been looking for the disc on which these images sat dormant. I recently restarted the Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron with a group of Tumblr creatives and for my Artist Date in Week 1, I opted to fill my well by going through many discs of old digital images. I found a number of photographs that could be used for textures, and remind me of a very creative period for me. A period right before I got lost for years upon years of call center phone calls and constant customer anger. Am I picking up where I left off? I’m not sure about that, but I do believe I can build upon the past. I believe these photographs were meant to be shared but I didn’t know how to get them out into the world back then.
If you download the free textures, leave a comment or some kind of trail that says you did. Share how you use them. I mentioned yesterday in the texture teaser (posted late at night) that these could be something you get printed somewhere and use as abstract art in your home too. I’d love to see them framed if that’s what you do.
I know I fell off the wagon with Texture Photography Wednesday. I can’t promise every Wednesday will be filled with textures but I can do my best!

This really helped. Thanks for sharing.
I love this series of texture photographs they look something just off the front of a science fiction novel — strange planets or alien craft floating in space. It gives me the inspiration to try something similar.
